FAQ

How long will it take to install the fence?

Typically, this will take just 3 days from start to finish.

I have shrubs near the boundary, will these get damaged?

Usually, we can work around small trees and shrubs, causing minimal damage.

Does Superior Concrete Walls do landscaping after the fence has been installed?

No, painting needs to be completed prior to landscaping so that the fence can be painted right down to ground level. Soil can then be backfilled up to the fence along with turf, garden bed or paths etc.

I have a large tree right on the boundary which I want to keep, can you build the fence around it?
Many trees are protected and must be left untouched. With our versatile fencing system, we fence around these trees, making them a major feature of the fence.

There is a 'green boy' power box on the corner of my boundary, how do you safely dig a footing there without cutting my power supply?

We will never use a machine to dig footings where power and telephone cables are; we will hand dig these footings.
Does the fence need to be rendered before painting?

No, our concrete fence has a high-quality finish and does not require rendering. We recommend painting the fence using Dulux Acratex Sedona; this is a heavy texture paint and can give you a lovely rendered look.
My local paint store told me that all precast has 'Bond breaker' on it's surface and needs to be removed prior to painting, how do we remove it?

We do not use bond breaker when manufacturing the concrete fence modules. You simply need to only wash the fence with soapy water prior to painting.

I love the look of your stacked stone panels, when do you glue the stone on?

We use a hi-tech battery mould to cast our concrete panels. The stone texture is an integral part of the stacked stone panel mould and the whole thing is cast at once, the stone can never delaminate from the panel.
Do I need to gain council permission to build a new fence?

No, in Queensland, a fence can be installed as a right.

Can I have a fence more than 2 metres high?

Yes, but you will need to engage the services of a building certifier who can gain a relaxation from council, they will charge you about $3,000.00 to do this.

Can you repair a panel if a car drives into the fence and cracks a panel?

Yes, using a crane truck, we can simply lift the panel out and slide a new one in.

I want to add lights and intercom into the fence, can this be done?

Yes, you will need to engage the services of an electrician. They can provide us with the conduit required for each application, we will install the conduit into our footing and column ready for the electrician to connect the services.

I don't want the header beam on the panel, can I have a fence without it?

Will your concrete fence stop cars?
Yes, over the years, a number of our fences have been driven into during roadside car accidents. In one such accident a drunk driver mounted the curb, was airborne, tires hit our fence over 1 meter above ground but was repelled back onto the road upside down on its roof. The home occupants were completely safe, and the driver was taken away.

Is your fence cyclone and tornado proof?

Yes, our fence in engineered to withstand Class N3 wind loads. During the 2023 Christmas Day southeast Queensland tornado, our fences stood up to the powerful winds that tore apart homes, ripped off hundreds of roofs and downed trees and power-poles. Our sturdy concrete fences in Oxenford were the only type of fence to be unscathed; Colorbond, Timber and Vinyl fences were torn apart. 12 months on, people were still waiting for their insurance companies to carry out repairs, necessitating the need to install temporary fencing to protect the children and pets.
